At last - the photos from the German study visit 2006 are on display in L1 and also on the German notice board (by the Deli-bar)....... In June 2006 we had a nine-day trip to the beautiful Moselle Valley.  We sailed from Newcasltle to Ijmuiden on the overnight ferry and then made the five hour journey by coach to Treis-Karden, where we settled in at our best hotel so far - the Moselblick, meaning View of the Moselle, which we had from our balconies.  The owner, Karl-Heinz, was very friendly and welcoming and the typical German food was delicious.  During our stay, we had a full programme of excursions and visited such places as Phantasialand- a superb theme park, Burg Eltz and the lovely town of Cochem, Koblenz for shopping and wine/juice tasting at a local vineyard and we also had a cruise on the River Rhine before sightseeing and shopping in Rudesheim.  As it was a study visit, we did some language exercises as well, like interviewing people in Koblenz, following town trails and, of course keeping a diary - in German!  We did, however, have some leisure time and went swimming, played crazy golf and even managed a visit to the local Kirmes, or fun-fair.  The German study visit is a wonderful opportunity to see a very beautiful part of Germany, meet the locals, try out new dishes and - the best part of all - to put the German you have learnt in the classroom into practice.  Our next German study visit will be in June 2008, so if you want to come with us start saving now and remember, only pupils studying German in 2008 will be eligible to go!  Make the most of your German studies and join us in 2008 for another fantastic trip.
